Moments after the fire alarm went off, the South African
Reserve Bank was caught in a tale of where there’s smoke there’s a fire.
Employees were evacuated yesterday after a suspicion of there was smoke in the
building’s 32nd floor. Tshwane Emergency Services hurried to the scene where
employees were evacuated so that the fire fighters could extinguish what was
suspected to be a fire. To their discovery no flames of fire were present.
According to Johan Pieterse, Tshwane Emergency Services Spokesperson they could
not find anything.
“We received an alarm that there was smoke at the Reserve
Bank but upon our arrival of searching there was nothing. We went floor to
floor but we still found nothing,” Pieterse said.
After raiding each floor the Tshwane Emergency Servers
declared the building safe and sound and that is when employees were allowed
back in the building. Up to this point no one knows what could have possibly
caused the smell of smoke but Pieterse says the owners of the building will
further investigate what may have triggered the alarm to go off.
if it was a fire drill i guess the city's emergency response units passed the test!!

ReplyDeleteThey definitely did pass it. All was well and we are grateful that no one was hurt, including the information that could have been lost if the fire was really there.
